The Night Hawk Lake shoreline is typically quite rocky, with sheer cliffs reaching 200 feet in many places. There are several small underwater reefs and protected sand beaches spread across the lake.
There are six islands in all. The river joins the lake at the north end through Viaduct and Cliff lakes. Mirror, Paddy, Saphire, and Solace all have streams that flow into Hawk. The Rushing River and Bass Lake get all of the water that goes through the southernmost bay. The maximum depth is 420 feet. The water clarity exceeds 15 feet.
